The Walking Dead is one of the most popular television shows on cable and it's managed to stay that way through all of the hierarchy changes. When the show was confirmed to be returning for it's fourth season this fall, it was also announced that Season 3 showrunner Glen Mazzara would be leaving the production. THR is now reporting that executive producer Scott Gimple has been promoted to showrunner for the fourth season. Gimple joined the show at the start of its second season working as a producer and he is credited with writing five episodes. He is also credited with writing the screenplay for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance among other television series.
