New Line Cinema has hired commercials director Dan Trachtenberg to helm their upcoming adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra's modern classic Y: The Last Man . Trachtenberg is well known for his short fan film "Portal: No Escape", which was released online in 2011. Planned for development as a feature film almost as far back as its 2002 comic book debut, Y: The Last Man will feature a screenplay by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia's. Y tells the story of Yorick Brown, a young man who, along with his capuchin monkey, somehow survives a catastrophic event that kills off every living creature with a Y chromosome. Left in a world of only women, Yorick teams with a government operative, 355, to try and uncover the truth about the plague and why he and he alone...
