Anne Hathaway to Headline The Taming of the Shrew Adaptation Jan 14th 2013, 00:00 Anne Hathaway, fresh from her Golden Globe win for Les Miserables , is set to headline a remaining of the Shakespearean comedy The Taming of the Shrew . The Wrap reports that the project will set the action in Italy in the middle of the 20th century. Abi Morgan ( Shame , The Iron Lady ) will provide the screenplay. No director has been announced. Hathaway, who also starred this year in The Dark Knight Rises , would likely play the leading role of Katherina, the play's titular "shrew", whose life is overturned when she's forced into marriage with the silver-tongued Petruchio.
